Mum: 'you'll never guess who just walked into Reiss [clothes store, Cambridge]. AMY WINEHOUSE!'

Im not much of a celebrity fan. I suppose its because I've never come into contact with many before. But when i walked into Reiss to see a petite beehive clad Amy Winehouse, i'll admit i was thrilled. She was wearing a tight pair of skinny jeans and high top trainers and was accompanied by a bodyguard. This was before her whole drug-use trauma, and seemed perfectly happy browsing the rails.

Peronally, i've never really liked her style that much. Her baggy jeans, trainers and tattoos are all a bit manly for my liking. I'll admit she does have talent and i am very pleased she is back from rehab and is on the mend. But really, shes not my cup of tea style-wise.

However, she has been influenced and been linked to the fashion world very strongly this season. She is known as Karl LAgerfeld's muse and inspired many catwalk beauty looks with her winged eyes and bouffant hair. She performed at Fendi's store opening and at many of the major music events.

And when Paris Vogue did a fashion spread inspired by her in the Febuary issue, i'm going to have to bite the bullet and admit that i loved it. The model [Isabelli Fontana] captured Amy's often bizzare behaviour well, and the shoot really reflects her personality and dress sense.

I love this editorial, it's like the model does Amy Winehouse better and more stylishly than Amy Winehouse:)

I love Reiss it will be interesting to see if she wears their stuff in public
But I hate how people are loving her, she is a mess yet the media is praising her like she is a kind of god!

I love her hai but on the whole agree that she is a bit of a mess. bronwyn you are so right, the model is a much more chic version.

She is too all over the place for my liking, but I think it would be cool to meet her, because she makes some great music.

That editorial is so cool and i'm not even a Winehouse fan really! Her style generally is sloppy and she is a bit of a junkie but I like how she is out there doing her own thing with the hair and makeup and just inspiring designers. I do think though that everyone has gone a bit Amy mad, I mean she's got a good voice and all but calm down!

I love Amy's beehive and eye make up and the 50's scarve around head thing but have you seen the recent photos of her blistered and blemished face? She really needs to sort herself out!

i agree with you, her tattoos and basically her entire look is alot for me to handle, but her voice is so amazing! her teeth are really disgusting too.. haha anyways thanks for your comment on my blog.. and i would love to link with you!

i do quite like that photo shoot, but i'm really not a fan of amy winehouse's style! maybe it's just because she constantly looks ill and on a come down. her music is amazing though.

Was she really as tiny as she looks?
I think she errs towards trashy. If her makeup, hair, etc was just toned-down a bit (like on the runways--how ironic!) it would be chic, but she has a problem with excess--in styling and in life it seems...

God Isabeli is gorgeous - she's one of those really talented models who has stayed under the radar for some reason.
Amy Winehouse is a powerhouse. She's incredible - messed up, sure. Lol. But her voice is completely captivating. They've done a great job of capturing her essence in this wonderful photo shoot.
Paris Vogue...always gets it right.

p.s. omg you have a styleandthecity slide show! I've always wanted one. Kamel's photos are just dazzling...

Oh and in response to your comment on my blog - I'm not too sure which area of the fashion industry I'd like to 'make my mark in' (lol), it changes everyday, y'know what I mean? This makes it difficult to make decisions regarding further studies etc. Blast my typical Gemini-ism (fickl-ness, that is)! Lol. What about you? Where have you set your eyes on?

I really liked that editorial with the Amy-Double.
I'll confess I'm a fan of her music.
Karl Lagerfeld's muse? It seems that he's kinda wasty with his muses - like every two months he has somebody new!

im not sure how i feel about her. i love her simple laid back style and she is an amazing artist. but i just hate the tattoos. the peoples faces scare me.

i got into a huge arguement with this really annoying girl in my english class about her. she was talking about how she shouldnt have been nominated for the grammys because she does drugs and such and shouldnt be awarded for such behavior, but the grammies arent awarding her for her bad behavior, they are awarding her for her music. with all the drug scandals these days, it just isnt a big deal anymore to see a celeb doing such things. kate moss for example, everyone still loves her.

i rambled a lot. sorry.

I love the editorial as well. Well, really just the pictures. I'm not fond of her style. It's too heroine addicty for me.

i like her don't-care attitude and her makeup/tattoos, but yeah she's a little crazy haha. hopefully she pulls herself together after rehab.

the editorial is gorgeous, and the model is prettier than amy...

I don't dig her style too much but the designs that off sprung from her are fantastic. And the spread is darn cool!

That spread is so cool! The photos are great...

And as for your question on my comments- the song is by Cobra Starship.

I love the photoshoot it's a very glamorous take on amy. Sometimes I forget amy is only 24 she's done a lot in her years. She may have issues but she's so talented. I wish i could just run into a celebrity hahah

what an exciting sighting!
i gotta say, i really love her style and dont think other people can pull it off quite like her
i think shes very sexy in a strange way too!

Cate said...

wow! i have never seen a celebrity in the flesh. and i love amy's music and her style, and i hope she doesn't die soon. the shoot is nice, although i still think amy looks better than the model - but if it weren't for the face, you could really think it was amy!
i loved the beehives at chanel (clearly inspired by amy)

Style Spot said...

love her original voice but she's such a mess
still, she's Lagerfeld's muse so being a mess might be the "new thing" ?! :p
superb photoshoot
really captured her one of a kind style

I remember seeing this and thinking about the heroin chic of the 90's...creepy yet stylish.

wow a celeb encounter.very cool.amy truly has been connected to fashion. i think michael kors is also quite a big fan. plus here eye makeup (the wing) has really become her mark. the other day, i was sporting wing tipped eyes, and was referred to ms.whinehouse. i wasnt exactly thrilled bc i dont love the choices shes made, but i am not one for judging. but i did come to a realization that amy has truly made a name for herself, especially thru her singing.
p.s.check out my new post. oh and may i please link you?
