Well he does work for Chanel Dahlink.

Its not often that a designer makes me want to crawl back into my school uniform after a relaxing weekend.
*Note to americans/canadians: Over here in the extremely cold relm of england we are forced to wear a discusting uniform*
But, lo and behold the s/s 08 collection from the amazing Karl Lagerfeld has given me school-fever. The big, big bow ties and the man blazer with pleated skirts teamed with black flat brouges is simply stunning. The collection had a hard edge to it but it worked with the relaxed hair and smoky eyes.
Is this not one of the first time FLATS have been featured on the catwalk?
And here is me and my friends three years ago [we dont often take pictures at school] in our delightful uniform.
We look extra-nice with our blue faces non?

I've added all the links as promised, and have a nice weekend everyone! :)

i love the preppy look, probably b/c i'm not used to seeing it everyday, since only the private prep schools require those uniforms here. your schools uniforms are pretty nice =D

hmm i love those shoes!

haha you guys look so harry potter haha, sorry, i couldn't help myself :p but we do have uniforms at some schools in the US too. Mostly private or catholic schools- but they vary by the school. When I was in lowerschool (ages 5-10) we wore blue, yellow, or white collared shirts and either blue pants or an ugly plaid skirt- sometimes that plaid shows up in fashion but i always hate it b/c i had to wear it haha.

hmm i never thought the American college system was too hard to understand, but then again I'm in it so haha (btw i'm aware that the term "college" can mean different things in different countries, for example when I use the word college I'm referring to university) but the way highschool works (is highschool what you guys call "college"? for me highschool is ages 15-18) is you take basic regular courses math (typically- algebra, geometry, algebra II, statistics- or if you're actually good at math haha, you can take calculus ugh), science (typically- biology, chemistry, and the evil physics haha), english (typically a general course, then for me it was british literature, american literaute, and in your senior/last year you take specific courses like I'm taking world literature right now, but there was also a women literature course and creative writing offered as well), a language (most schools only offer french or spanish, but some do still teach german, and others are incoporating arabic or mandarin into their programs), gym/physical education, history (typically- everyone learns western civilization ie european history and american history), and then at my school you have to do some arts courses like either visual art (painting, drawing, ceramics, photo), music (band, chior), or theatre- but not all. the idea is to get a wellrounded education. for the most part highschool is seperate from what you do in college/university. as i said in my last comment to you you can take AP (advanced placement) courses on a myriad of subjects, but its not required. so most people enter university without any credits. unlike europe- we do not have to choose are degree until the 2nd year of university- as opposed to you guys when you choose at 16-17. obviously this causes some issues- people are very indecisive and sometimes end up with random degrees because that was what they had the most credits in haha. some people actually do know what they like so it's not as hard- like me, i wanna be an english major :). still no matter what degree you want most colleges require some prerequisties like language, math, science, and english in university. does that make more sense?

as for the actual application process to university it involves: your highschool transcript (grades/makrs), SAT/ACT scores, teacher recommendations, what extracirricular activities you did (debate, sports, chiors etc), personal statements (essays)- there's also this really horrible one where they ask you why you want to go to that school specifically, any charity work you may have done, and some universities ask for interviews, typically the transcript is the most important.

woah sorry thats long, but i hope it made sense. any more questions? btw thanks for answer mine, i think i get it now. the fashion book sounds cool- what is it exactly?

I loved this collection as well. Chanel also feautured some gorgeous flat ballet slippers in their previous collection. We also have to wear school uniforms in South Africa. Well, my school days are far behind me, but in a way it was nice because you didn't have to decide what to wear every day.

I went to public school so I never had to wear uniforms, at the time I was glad I didn't but now I wish I had some uniform inspired pieces laying around like navy blazers or pleated plait skirts.

I love the preppy/menswear inspired look, Chanel does do it best. But I am still glad I don't wear a uniform to school, I don't know what I would do if that were the case.
